Installed on the fixed capsule of a VDR or S-VDR system, such as the CAP-0001 fixed recoverable capsule, The beacon assists in the recovery of the capsule in the event of a vessel sinking.

- PT9-NINETY: MO resolution MSC.333(90): On ships which are built on or after July 1, 2014, underwater locating devices must ensure a regulatory transmission time of at least 90 days.

- IEC 61996-1 Ed. 2.0
- This standard incorporates the applicable parts of the performance standards included in IMO Resolution MSC.333(90).
